This listing is part of the 'At Home with Patricia Wells' collection of epicurean objects and decorative antiques.

A delightful black wicker basket from the nineteenth century, from the personal collection of Patricia and Walter Wells' home in Provence. Its lid hinges open in two parts and was originally used for taking a chicken to market. This basket has been part of a collection of antique boxes and baskets at Patricia and Walter's home in Provence.

Patricia jokingly exclaims that she can picture herself as an old lady carrying her chicken and eggs in this basket. She said that she can also imagine someone on the TGV using the basket to carry their cat. She bought it at an antique market in Provence many years ago.
