This beautiful orjol or water ewer, dating from the early 1900s, features a rich emerald green patina that nearly covers the entire surface of the pot. Traditionally used for fetching water from the village fountain, these ewers were essential in daily domestic life across rural France.

The finely aged glaze shows natural wear, adding a rustic charm to its sturdy form and gracefully curved handles. Similar examples can be found in the reference book Poteries d'Eaux, page 67, which highlights the significance of such vessels in rural French communities at the turn of the century.
