This stunning sunburst mirror dates from the 1970s/80s. The wooden frame is finished with gold paint. The carved border is evocative of sunflower petals or indeed flames around the sun! This will be a statement mirror for both contemporary and traditional interiors.


Note, some petals have been repaired where broken.

Sunburst mirrors, characterized by their radiating spokes or rays, date back to the early 19th century. Originating in France, these mirrors became popular during the reign of Louis XIV, the "Sun King," symbolizing his power and influence. The design saw a resurgence in the mid-20th century, particularly during the 1940s to 1960s, when they became iconic in mid-century modern decor.
