This vintage apothecary jar, crafted by the esteemed Koninklijk Goedewaagen of Holland, is a stunning piece of pharmaceutical history and decorative art. The porcelain jar is adorned with vibrant hand-painted detailing, featuring cherubs, floral motifs, and a central fruit basket in an intricate design that reflects timeless Dutch craftsmanship. The bold label "INDOMETHACINUM" is displayed prominently, a nod to its original use in the pharmaceutical trade.

Indomethacin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat conditions such as arthritis, gout, and other inflammatory disorders. Its inclusion on the jar highlights its role in 20th-century medicine, making this piece not only decorative but also an intriguing artifact of medical history.

The jar includes its original matching lid and is stamped on the underside with the hallmark of Koninklijk Goedewaagen, along with "Unicum 3/3" and the date "1962." Koninklijk Goedewaagen (Royal Goedewaagen), founded in 1610 in Gouda, Netherlands, is one of the oldest ceramics manufacturers in the world. Known for producing high-quality pottery, tiles, and porcelain, the company gained royal recognition in 1930, allowing it to use the title "Koninklijk" (Royal). Goedewaagen's work is celebrated for its meticulous craftsmanship and artistic designs, making their pieces highly sought-after by collectors.

This apothecary jar is a unique blend of historical significance and timeless beauty, perfect for display in a curiosity cabinet, pharmacy-inspired décor, or as a standalone statement piece.
