A lovely vintage blown glass vase from Biot. Note the glass has a subtle blue/green tint and bubbles embedded in the glass. Patricia enjoys displaying home-grown flowers from the gardens at Chanteduc in this vase including tulips and fragrant roses in spring.

Biot glass originates from the village of Biot on the French Riviera, where the glassmaking tradition began in the mid-20th century. In 1956, engineer Eloi Monod founded the Verrerie de Biot and revitalized an ancient technique of incorporating air bubbles into glass. This process involves introducing air into molten glass, causing small bubbles to form and remain suspended as the glass cools and solidifies. These bubbles, a signature feature of Biot glass, create a distinctive, frothy appearance in each piece.
