This charming collection from La Grange aux Potiers, dating back to the 1960s-70s, showcases a unique blend of rustic elegance and artisanal craftsmanship. Comprising 10 small bowls and 3 shallow serving bowls, the set is crafted from earthenware and terracotta, featuring a patina of warm ocher highlighted with subtle blue and green tones. The pieces are robust and have a satisfying solidity, embodying the quality and durability of mid-20th-century ceramic artistry. A minor chip on one of the smaller bowls is the only imperfection.
La Grange aux Potiers was a workshop in the Drôme region created by the couple René and Madeleine de Valence. Active between 1940 and 1980s. After René's death in 1963, Madeleine continued their work for another twenty years. They were friends with Picasso and pictured together at the 1955 International ceramics conference in Cannes, France.
