This magnificent Provençal trumeau, dating from the Louis XVI period (circa 1774–1792), is a truly special piece—at once grand in scale and delicate in detail. Its painted finish in soft French gray / green gives it a gentle, refined presence, beautifully offset by finely gilded neoclassical motifs. At the top, a graceful urn overflows with carved and gilded flowers and foliage, flanked by symmetrical sprays of laurel leaves—symbols of harmony and abundance that were beloved in the decorative language of the time.
