Alfred Bergier ( 1881 - 1971 ) was a Provençal painter from Avignon. He participated with the Group of Thirteen* in a first exhibition on December 21, 1912 which was a resounding success, followed by a second exhibition on December 18 , 1913, which was also the last of the Group. In 1929, he exhibited at the Salon of French artists The Romanesque chapel, Path in Provence, Road with cypresses and Avignon in the morning, remarkable watercolors. He also participated in the National Society of Fine Arts and the Salon des Indépendants. He died in Manosque in 1971 aged 90.
*The Groupe des Treize is a group of painters from Avignon founded and chaired in 1912 by Clément Brun, following the decision of the president of the "Société vauclusienne des amis des arts" to exclude from an exhibition sculptors, engravers and architects of Vaucluse , as well as artists from neighboring departments. Group members Besides Clément Brun, the members of the group were the painters Pierre Alexandre Belladen , Alfred Bergier , Lina Bill , Léon Colombier , Claude Firmin , Jules Flour , Joseph Hurard , Alfred Lesbros , Joseph Meissonnier and Louis Agricol Montagné and the sculptors Jean-Pierre Gras and Paul Gaston Deprez.
