This decorative ceramic medallion, dating from circa 1900, is a finely crafted reproduction of Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen's marble bas-relief depicting "Youth" or "Summer." It was likely part of a set of four medallions, each representing one of the seasons or stages of life, echoing Thorvaldsen's original series created in 1836.

Thorvaldsen (1770–1844), who spent much of his life in Rome, became one of the foremost figures in Neo-Classical sculpture, drawing inspiration from ancient Roman art and mythology.

Glazed in a rich blue-green hue, the medallion showcases an exquisitely detailed relief of a harvest scene, with three figures engaged in a tender interaction. Its timeless aesthetic makes it a striking decorative accent, perfect for adding a touch of classical elegance to any space—whether as a focal point in a living room, part of a gallery wall, or as an accent piece in both traditional and modern settings.
