Alexandre Calame (May 28, 1810 - March 17, 1864) was a Swiss painter, watercolourist, and engraver renowned for his mountain landscapes. Born in Vevey, Switzerland, Calame became a leading figure in Swiss landscape painting. He apprenticed under François Diday and later developed his style in Paris, influenced by Dutch masters like Hobbema and Ruisdael. Despite health challenges, Calame produced some of his best works in Aix-les-Bains and the Midi region of France. His notable paintings include "Storm at Handek" and "Lake of the Four Cantons." Calame's works are housed in prestigious museums, reflecting his lasting legacy in art. He died in Menton, France in 1864.
