This small mirror from the Louis XVI period (circa 1774–1792) exudes understated elegance and timeless appeal, enriched by a beautifully aged patina that speaks to centuries of gentle wear. The finely carved giltwood frame is adorned with delicate  "rais de cœur" motifs and beaded inner borders, hallmarks of the refined neoclassical style favored during the late 18th century. These crisp, symmetrical details are carefully executed, giving the mirror a quiet sophistication that elevates any space without overwhelming it. The original mercury glass has developed exquisite foxing, creating a soft, mottled surface that blurs reflection with a dreamy, painterly quality.

This historical patina enhances the mirror's character, offering warmth and depth to any space it adorns. Perfect for placement in an entryway or as an accent in a living area, this exquisite piece promises to elevate its surroundings with a sense of elegance and history.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
Note: Mirrors have been photographed facing fabric, a technique that reveals any age spots in the glass. In some cases, this may create the appearance of an empty frame, but each mirror is complete except where explicitly stated.
This mirror contains its original mercury glass which sparkles beautifully in the light. The technique of making mercury glass mirrors was retired in the early 1900s. The mercury is fixed behind the glass in a solidified, non harmful state.
