This small, handcrafted cream or milk pitcher originates from Vallauris, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. It is adorned with a jaspé glaze, showcasing a marbled effect in earthy tones of beige, green, and brown, adding rustic and artistic flair to the piece. The glaze also exhibits slight crackling, giving it a vintage, well-used character.

Vallauris, located in southern France, has been a center for pottery-making since ancient times. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the town became well-known for its everyday ceramics, often featuring artistic glazes like jaspé, a marbled effect created by swirling different colors together, as seen on this pitcher. The town's pottery tradition became even more famous in the mid-20th century when artists like Picasso brought international attention to Vallauris. However, this pitcher reflects the earlier, rustic charm of the town’s pottery heritage.

This charming little pitcher would make a lovely addition to a country-style kitchen or a collection of vintage French pottery.
