Captivating antique French portrait oil-on-canvas of an aristocratic man draped in red regalia. Signed by the artist Jérome David on the back and dated 1732, this portrait style painting was done in the style of artist Joseph André Cellony (1696-1746, Aix-en-Provence) who was known for his fine portraits of the Aix aristocracy. The portrait's era and frame is 18th century Louis XIV. The painting is in perfect condition, never refinished, gilded wooden frame. Note the frame is not quite straight on the left side but the art itself is in incredible condition.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
