Rare "Poule d'eau" Jug with Ochre and Green Glaze from the early 20th, 9"

SKU: 19812

US$447
This distinctive piece is a rare type of water jug known as a "poule d'eau," named for its hen-like shape, from the 1rst half of the 20th century.

Likely originating from Cliousclat in the Drôme region, where this charming form was traditionally produced between the 1920's and 1950's, the jug's playful design includes a circular handle and dual spouts resembling the head and tail of a hen.

The bold vibrant glaze and distinctive shape highlight the skilled craftsmanship of its time, making it a striking decorative addition to any collection of French country antiques. Its unique form and delightful presence are sure to captivate in any setting.
