A rare collection of ten stamped porcelain Napoleonic military figurines daring from the 1940s/50s. A lovely find for collectors, these figurines have the names of the officers (and marshals and generals) inscribed on their pedestals. A few include more information about their history and important battles marked underneath. These lively characters would be a delightful decorative addition for French history appreciators displayed in an office or on a shelf in a European history classroom.
Note the blue stamp indicating the porcelain faience marked underneath each. One also reads "Made in GDR"; German Democratic Republic. Though the majority of others were likely made in France.
Examples of notable figures included:
General Lasalle (famous French cavalry general during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars) and Joachim Murat. For example, you can read beneath the figurine of Murat details inscribed in French including that he was brother-in-law (beau-frère) of Napoleon - Grand Duke of Berg in 1806 and later the King of Naples in 1808.
