A stunning Art Nouveau green blown glass vase with flowers dating from the early twentieth century, France, in the style of Legras. Glazed by hand, the vase features gorgeous, impressionable pink enamel parrot tulips, perhaps iris, masterfully painted by hand. The tall form finishes with an octagonal top. Note the pretty traces of gilding around the top and throughout the floral design. A delightful vase to feature with a spotlight on a shelf to add a colorful touch of French charm to your interiors.
Legras & Cie. was founded in 1864 by August Legras. The company was celebrated for their decorative glass, using many techniques including marbled glass, enameled and gilded glass. At the start of the twentieth century, they began to make cameo glass, some with the addition of colored enameling. They also made perfume bottles designed by Lalique for Coty. The glass was generally marked either Legras or Mount Joye & Cie. It merged with Pantin in 1906 and was generally marked Pantin or De Vez.
