Dating from the nineteenth century, a fabulous pair of gilded Louis XIII ceremonial armchairs covered in red silk velvet. The frames feature intricately gilded and turned wood. The arms feature escargot spiral ends adorned with acanthus leaf motifs. The base is joined by an "H" stretcher assembled by square-section connecting thimbles decorated with die joins.
The upholstery is in good condition and features a pretty, yellow-and-blue decorative tape trim on the seat, seat back, and sides. A matching fringe trim decorates the seat and lower edge of the seatback. Comfortable, and surprisingly lightweight thus easy to move around.
