A charming 19th-century petite French folding table in wrought iron, featuring an elegant scrolling base and a circular top that tilts upright when not in use. Traditionally associated with outdoor use, these practical tables were designed for easy storage and portability.
The beautifully shaped wrought iron base is adorned with graceful arabesque scrollwork, lending the piece a light and airy presence. Layers of old paint have accumulated over time, with traces of an earlier white finish blending harmoniously with a later bright yellow repaint, now gently worn through age and outdoor use. Areas of oxidation and surface wear further enrich its authentic patina.
The metal top appears to have been replaced at some point in the table’s history and no longer meets the rim perfectly evenly throughout. This minor irregularity also allows rainwater to drain naturally when used outdoors. The top still tilts and folds properly, and remains securely held in the horizontal position by the original supports beneath.
With its beautifully weathered surface, decorative ironwork, and practical folding design, this piece would bring great charm to a terrace, winter garden, or kitchen.
