Pair of Louis XIV carved wood decorative flame elements 18"

A fine pair of decorative elements of 'pot a feu' from the seventeenth century. Each was carved from one piece of wood and then a paint and gilt finish applied. Originally used to decorate a mantelpiece, commode or console. A rare find.
