Pair of large antique French rectangular frames 32¾"x 26½"

An exquisite pair of Regence style frames from the late eighteenth / early nineteenth century. The patina has been recently refinished with gold and beige. Originally they would have likely displayed a pair of portrait paintings. These would also make wonderful frames for a pair of large mirrors. Note the pretty scrolling foliage that embellishes the corners. The craftsmanship and age can be verified by looking at the joins on the back of the frame - the diagonal piece that ties the horizontal and vertical sections together is typical of eighteenth century frame construction, found in mirror and painting frames.
