A superb, rare pair of carved walnut boxes dating from the late-nineteenth to early-twentieth century. One is for salt and features a hinged lid on top and small drawer underneath (for coarse and fine salt) while the other has a vertically sliding front, used for flour. They are in the Louis XV style and are from Provence. They can either be wall mounted or sit on the countertop.
Note: the flour box (with carved fish) is slightly larger than the salt box.
