Pair of 19th-century chairs w/ painted scenes on backs

A rare pair of nineteenth-century armchairs featuring painted battle scenes in the center of the seat backs. Note the broad walnut apron on the front and double bracing on the sides.

They are labelled Galerie Militaire referring to military-themed artworks, often paintings or illustrations, showcasing depictions of soldiers, battles, and military leaders. Reflecting the era's fascination with war and nationalism, it serves as a visual record of military history and societal perceptions during the 1800s.
