A striking pair of 17th century Baroque Solomonic church columns deeply carved with twisting vines, abundant grape clusters, and scrolling foliage. Their richly intricate decoration spirals upward toward removable Corinthian capitals, creating a strong sense of movement and theatricality typical of Baroque ecclesiastical carving.
The wood has acquired a magnificent dark patina over centuries, beautifully emphasizing the depth and intricacy of the carving and the sculptural movement of the twisted forms. Old wormholes, wear, and irregularities throughout only enhance their gravitas and presence. The reverse remains uncarved, indicating they were intended to be viewed frontally, most likely framing an altar or retable. The capitals were once fitted with electrical mounts for lamps, traces of this earlier electrification still remaining visible today. They could easily be electrified again if desired.
With their bold sculptural form, intricate vine carving, and beautifully aged patina, these columns bring rich texture, historical atmosphere, and remarkable presence to an interior.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
