This antique French Louis XIII mirror, features original mercury glass with characteristic foxing, indicative of its age. Originating from the late 17th century, the mirror showcases the intricate "guilloché" technique, which involves carving detailed, repetitive patterns into the frame's surface. While the frame was originally finished in black lacquer, it now has non-original black paint. The mirror remains in good condition, reflecting the high-style craftsmanship of the Louis XIII period. This piece is a superb example of French craftsmanship from the High Renaissance and Louis XIII period, making it a valuable addition to any antique collection.
Note: Mirrors have been photographed facing fabric, a technique that reveals any age spots in the glass. In some cases, this may create the appearance of an empty frame, but each mirror is complete except where explicitly stated.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
