This late 19th-century Kanti pitcher from southwest France features a striking yellow glaze with expressive brown splashes, a hallmark of traditional Languedoc pottery. Characterized by its fully enclosed top, this type of pitcher was designed for carrying drinking water from the village fountain, with a distinctive double-spout design—one larger for refilling and a smaller for controlled pouring (directly into your mouth!). The gracefully curved handle enhances both function and form, while the rich glaze creates a beautiful contrast with the raw terracotta at the base.

In home decor, this pitcher makes a stunning focal point in a French country or Mediterranean-style kitchen, displayed on open shelving or as part of a curated pottery collection. It can also serve as a sculptural element in a dining space or be repurposed as a vase for dried flowers, preserving its historical essence while integrating it into modern interiors.
