Dating from the nineteenth century, this superb yellow-glazed terracotta bowl is known as a "tian" in Provence. Note the pretty rippled edge. Bowls such as these were used for several purposes from washing vegetables, preparing food and even washing up dishes. As some glaze is missing from the inside, decorative use is recommended.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
