Large Vintage Planter Willy Guhl – Handkerchief / Tulip 29½"

SKU: 19772

US$2,449
This large planter or cachepot, attributed to renowned Swiss designer Willy Guhl, features the iconic mouchoir (handkerchief) or tulip design. Guhl, a pioneer in mid-century modern design, is best known for his innovative work with Eternit, a durable fiber cement material, which allowed for the creation of lightweight, weather-resistant garden pieces. The organic, flowing form of this planter is characteristic of Guhl’s ability to merge functionality with sculptural elegance. Eternit was originally made using a mixture of cement and asbestos, a common practice at the time, though production today has moved away from asbestos for health and safety reasons. Note: We advise that this piece is displayed outside or in a well-ventilated room. The patina mustn't be modified.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
