Hand-carved from a single piece of olive wood, this rustic sculptural bowl dates from the 1950s or 1960s and celebrates the natural beauty of the material through its organic, irregular form. The gently undulating rim and asymmetrical silhouette give it a raw, organic presence, while the dense grain of the olive wood creates rich tonal variations across the surface, ranging from warm honey and tobacco tones to deeper browns and darkened areas developed through age and use. The surface has acquired a well-developed patina over time, with visible wear, scratches, small knocks, and superficial age-related cracks enhancing its rustic character and tactile quality.
Beautiful as a decorative object in its own right, it would sit naturally on a farmhouse table, kitchen counter, or open shelf, filled with seasonal fruit, garlic, or dried botanicals.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
