THIS ITEM IS PART OF THE AT HOME WITH PATRICIA WELLS VOLUME II CATALOG. ALL ITEMS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR SALE.
"I bought in Paris - it was one of the first things we bought in the 80s, our friends in New York were huge poster collectors so we wanted to start our own collection," recounts Patricia, "we had it in Paris, then moved it to Provence. It was hanging above the bed in Paris, then we moved it to the spa at Chanteduc. I love the two girls on the tandem bike and the guy riding beside them. You laugh every time you look at it!"
Note, water damage to bottom - which actually is very playful considering it hangs above the jacuzzi - or one can imagine this trio cycling through puddles in Burgundy!
René Vincent (1879-1936) emerged as a distinguished French artist, revered for his iconic posters that became synonymous with the Art Deco movement. Born in Lyon, Vincent's early talent flourished under the tutelage of the École des Beaux-Arts in his hometown before he ventured to Paris to pursue his artistic career. Renowned for his dynamic illustrations, Vincent's oeuvre radiated sophistication, often capturing the allure of the glamorous nightlife, haute couture, and opulence of his era. Yet, it was his iconic posters that etched his name in artistic history, adorning thoroughfares and galleries alike with their bold lines and vibrant hues, embodying the essence of the Roaring Twenties.
