A delightful oil-on-canvas modern piece painted by recognized French artist Georges Levêque (dit Gertles). The piece is titled "J'imaginer" and dated 2003 on the back of the canvas. It features mostly monochrome grey-and-white geometrical patterns with an off-center blue clover design drawing the eye inward. The rectangular piece is framed with a simple painted wood frame. About the artist:
Georges Lévêque (1919-2021), known as Gertles, or "Gezlès" by his artist signature, was born in the north of France. His work was inspired by the abstract avant-gardes, he uses a post-cubist geometric vocabulary sometimes tinged with humor. Fond of his region, he exhibited locally at renowned galleries such as Galerie Septentrion in Bondues and art galleries in Lille. Excerpts from La Voix du Nord.
