This grand 18th-century Louis XV mirror from Provence is a magnificent piece featuring a gilded wood frame with intricate carvings of foliage, scrolls, and flowers. The high, openwork crest and sides are adorned with natural motifs, ending in elegant scroll-like feet. The lower crosspiece boasts an openwork shell design. The mirror, in two original sections, remains in good condition despite some wear and minor losses to the frame.
Originating from a noble residence in Nîmes, Gard, this heavy mirror is advised to be secured with screws underneath for stability. Dating to around 1740-1750, this will be the focal point of any room that it is displayed in.
Note: Mirrors have been photographed facing fabric, a technique that reveals any age spots in the glass. In some cases, this may create the appearance of an empty frame, but each mirror is complete except where explicitly stated.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
