Preserving jar, ironstone, original 19th-century

This charming ironstone jar dates to the 19^th century. Originally made for preserves such as jam and mustard, the original lid was fabric, fastened to the upper lip of the jar. Beautifully branded this is a special find. There is a makers mark underneath reading Déposé terre de fer MC which is the stamp of creil montereau creamware.
