This warming dish, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, belonged to Mrs. Nickols of 2 Seamore Place, Mayfair, London. The copper base features her name and address engraved, highlighting its provenance. The dish is constructed from copper with a porcelain interior, and includes brass handles and a spout with a brass lid, where hot water is added to keep serving dishes warm.
Mrs. Nickols was a well-known figure in Mayfair society. Her home, 2 Seamore Place, overlooked Park Lane, and she was remembered for frequenting auction rooms and galleries in the area. A woman of refined taste, she also dined regularly at the Ritz. The wear on the brass and copper adds to its historical charm, representing both its practical use and its elegant heritage.
