A charming duo of French glazed confit pots, each with a softly rounded body and small, high-set loop handles placed just below the rim, their delicate curve giving the simple provincial forms a graceful lift.
Though similar in form, the two differ subtly in both scale and tone, the larger pot finished in a warmer creamy ivory glaze, the smaller in a cooler pale white, creating a pleasing sense of variation when displayed together. Their restrained proportions and gently swelling forms reflect the understated beauty of traditional provincial pottery.
Originally intended for preserving foodstuffs such as confit, preserves, or salted goods, vessels of this type were everyday staples in French country kitchens. The larger pot shows small chips around the base, while the smaller example has a stable hairline crack, both entirely consistent with age and use and contributing to their authentic rustic character.
Whether grouped together or used separately, these pots bring softness and warmth to a kitchen, pantry, or shelf arrangement. Empty or loosely filled, they bring the quiet charm of old French country pottery to a room.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
