Ceramic fruit bowl w/ leaves & green glaze 11"

This sculptural ceramic fruit bowl dates from the mid-twentieth century. Beautifully handmade in the shape of a basket lined with large leaves. Although unsigned, the design, quality and vibrant green glaze indicate that it is from Vallauris.

The ceramics industry in Vallauris, a town on the French Riviera, experienced a remarkable resurgence in the mid-20th century, catalyzed by Pablo Picasso's arrival in 1946.
