This early twentieth century painting by Marius Hubert-Robert captures the sun-drenched Mediterranean village of Cannes with a winding hillside path leading towards a coastal village perched above the sea. The composition is framed by lush trees in the foreground, with dappled sunlight casting warm tones on the foliage. The curving road guides the eye toward the distant village, where white buildings contrast against the deep blue sea. A small group of figures, dressed in traditional attire, walk along the path, adding a narrative and sense of scale. The bright summer sky, punctuated by soft clouds, enhances the sense of warmth and leisure, creating a harmonious balance between natural and architectural elements. Oil on canvas.
