An exceptional camphor shipping trunk from the early 20th century. It has a flat top making it a suitable piece to use as a side table or at the foot of a bed.
Originally used to transport silk and uniforms by boat. The camphor timber protected the fabric from mites. There is a shelf inside and the decoration is pretty and restrained. The hardware is bronze.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
