An antique lidded casserole/terrine, glazed with red ocher, bears the marks of frequent use Patricia's wood oven at Chanteduc. Made in an atelier in Vallauris (in the late nineteenth century), renowned for its ceramics, this piece embodies the region's rich history in pottery. Vallauris, nestled in the French Riviera, gained prominence during the 20th century as a hub for ceramic production, attracting artists like Pablo Picasso, who collaborated with local potters. The town's legacy continues to thrive, celebrated for its traditional craftsmanship and innovative designs in pottery.

Note, the base is cracked and although intact, decorative use is recommended.
