Dating from the start of the twentieth century, this lovely antique pitcher (Kanti) features a green demi-glaze. Popularized at the end of the nineteenth century, Kanti pitchers are from the Languedoc region of southwest France. They are similar to water cruches except that they are entirely closed on top - there is no lid to open and close (or lose!).
They were originally used for fetching water from the village fountain. A delightful piece to add to a collection of pottery to bring a touch of France to your home. Note some minor chips to glaze as seen in photos.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
