Set of 10 French antique round jute mats 22¾"

A set of ten round antique scourtin mats made from coir (coconut husk). Their natural tan color and texture makes these pieces multipurpose and versatile for decorative and practical use. Originally they were used for filtering and extracting olive oil on a press. 

For practical use, they could be used as mats for large pottery jars or planters to protect the floor beneath when used inside and create a barrier for people walking by not to run into the pots at night in the dark but be prompted by the natural fiber mat perimeter indicating where the pot is located.
