Antique French portrait of kittens watching a bird 18½" x 15¾"

Dating from the 1930s, this delightful oil-on-wood scene depicts two kittens observing a bird drinking water from a saucer. Signed in the lower right corner and stamped with a brass plaque on the frame, E.PERRETON, was a known French painter born in the nineteenth century and popular for his paintings of kittens.

It is in its original frame and the gilding has been re-coated for maintenance. Note photos for the lovely slightly cracked patina of the oil paint due to the passage of time. A charming French addition to your home or as a special gift for a cat lover in your life.
