Dating from the end of the nineteenth century, a delightful antique glazed terracotta plate used to "turn" an omelet onto a plate. This classic French piece was likely made in Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie, a village in Provence renowned for pottery. A "tourne omelets" plate, or omelets turning plate, is a kitchen utensil designed to help flip omelets easily and efficiently, ensuring they are cooked evenly without breaking, note the foot underneath for holding onto.
This shallow footed bowl features a warm ocher glaze with a squiggle and line decorations. A charming piece to use for preparing omelets or as a fruit or small salad bowl.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
