Antique French "comptoir" shop counter - oak w/ top coin slot 63½"

This superb nineteenth-century oak "comptoir" shop counter from Avignon, France, has a lovely natural finish and retains its original patina. The top features a coin slot where customers would pay and the money would drop into a drawer in the back for the merchant to complete the sale. The front is elegantly decorated with three molded panels. Today, this would make a lovely console in a living room, home bar or entryway piece.
