Dating from the nineteenth century, this rare 'ciel du lit' or bed crown is made from carved wood with a superb timeworn patina. The carvings are bone-like with tight scrolls and acanthus leaves. Note the pretty tassels between the fretwork underneath. Decorative use recommended as a sculptural object.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
