A lovely, large "Keulse" or "Cologne" blue and white glazed stoneware pot which dates from the end of the nineteenth century to early twentieth century. Likely German in origin, a "Cologne pot" is a stoneware pot that was used for centuries to pickle vegetables, meat and eggs. This piece has two little handles decorated with blue stripe glaze and a decorative abstract floral swirl motif around the center.

These kinds of pots are typically made of ceramic earthenware material with a layer of salt glaze. This layer of glaze ensures that the pot is watertight. This piece would be the perfect addition to an existing collection of pottery or as a charming kitchen utensil holder or flower vase. If being used as a vase, we recommend a container for water be placed inside.
