A tall, narrow hand-embroidered silk panel, likely French, mid to late 19th century, later mounted in a simple wooden frame. The design is worked in soft shades of blush, celadon, and ivory on a pale champagne moiré silk ground, whose subtle watered pattern animates the surface. Twining garlands, laurel wreaths, and a stylized urn form an elegant neoclassical composition, executed in fine silk embroidery. Condition is good, with gentle age-related wear including light creasing and faint toning; the moiré effect is inherent to the silk.
Panels like this were used for screens, upholstery, or decorative inserts, valued for their delicacy and refined color. It may also have formed part of a larger textile or represent an example of 19th-century “women’s work” , domestic needlework taught as part of a young woman’s education, combining skill, taste, and decorative purpose within the home. As wall décor, it offers a graceful vertical accent for a console, niche, or gallery wall, pairing beautifully with giltwood, mirrors, and soft, neutral interiors.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
