Joseph Pierre Tancrède Latour (April 17, 1806 - March 1, 1863) was a French Romantic artist known primarily for his drawings and natural landscapes, particularly those of the Pyrenees. Educated at the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse, Latour later taught drawing at the Institution des Feuillants. His studio was a hub for notable artists such as Charles de Saint Félix, Eugène Fil, Jules de Lahondés, Maxime Lalanne, Louise de Carayon-Talpayrac, Eugène de Malbos, and Jacques Raymond Brascassat.
While Latour created both drawings and paintings, his drawings and nature landscapes earned him greater recognition. His works are displayed in several museums across southern France, including the Gaillac Museum of Fine Arts, the Vaurais Country Museum in Lavaur, the Pyrenean Museum in Lourdes, the Musée Fabre in Montpellier, and the Paul-Dupuy Museum in Toulouse. In 2011, the Gaillac Museum of Fine Arts hosted an exhibition titled "Joseph Latour (1806-1863). Drawings of a Traveling Painter, from Toulouse to Spain," showcasing his extensive body of work.
