These three pate de verre sparrows are attributed to Sabino and date from the 1920s / 1930s. Oxides were used to make the opal colors inside. Note there are some minor chips on the back of the wings.

Marius Ernest Sabino (1878-1961) was born in Sicily and moved to Paris. After attending the L'Ecole Nationale des Arts Decoratifs and the Beaux Arts de Paris, he became very passionate about glass making. He created molds that he poured opalescent glass into.

Sabino and Lalique are the leaders of this style of decorative glass.
