19th century marble mortar & pestle 11¾"

A weighty Carrara marble mortar and wooden pestle from the nineteenth century. This large mortar would have originally been used for preparing pistou (pesto) and other delicious recipes. A lovely utilitarian piece to use and display on the kitchen counter. The pestle is not the original but has been paired with the mortar.
