19th century Majolica asparagus platter w/ strainer insert & daisies 13" x 9"

This beautiful asparagus serving tray dates from the late nineteenth-century. It is in two parts - the main dish which is decorated with dainty colorful seaside daisies, and the inset which is decorated with asparagus. There is a drainage hole to strain away the moisture to prevent the asparagus from becoming soggy. It was sourced from a private collection that was held for over fifty years.
